About This Programme

Situational Leadership Training — Lead Every Person the Way They Actually Need to Be Led

The most common leadership error in every sector is applying the same style to everyone on the team. The experienced team member with years of capability gets the same level of direction as the newest recruit. One chafes under unnecessary control and eventually leaves. The other struggles without adequate support and eventually fails. Neither outcome needed to happen — both are the predictable consequence of a manager who has never been taught that different people at different development levels require fundamentally different leadership approaches.

The Hersey-Blanchard Situational Leadership model provides exactly that teaching. This full-day programme gives managers the D1-D4 development level framework and all four leadership styles — directing, coaching, supporting and delegating — with live practice throughout and a personalised team development plan ready to apply from the very next management conversation.

Programme Outline

Full-Day Situational Leadership Training Programme

Morning Session
The Hersey-Blanchard Model, Development Levels & the Four Leadership Styles

Managers explore why one-size-fits-all leadership consistently underperforms and the commercial cost it creates across teams. They develop a working knowledge of the Hersey-Blanchard model, assess their own natural leadership style and understand which styles they overuse and underuse. They then apply the D1-D4 development level framework — distinguishing between competence and confidence and assessing each team member accurately for specific tasks, not as a fixed characteristic of the person.

Afternoon Session — Part 1
Matching Style to Level, Motivation & Underperformance

Managers practise matching all four leadership styles — directing (S1), coaching (S2), supporting (S3) and delegating (S4) — to the right development level in live team scenarios. They apply the knowledge-skills-attitude underperformance model to diagnose whether underperformance stems from a knowledge gap, a skills gap or a motivation issue, and practise the correct management response for each.

Afternoon Session — Part 2
Team Development Planning & Personal Leadership Action Plan

Managers map every direct report against the D1-D4 framework, identify the specific leadership style adjustment needed for each individual and build a personalised team development plan. Every delegate leaves with clear, immediately actionable leadership changes for their very next management conversation.
